Designed for 1:1 printing of 35mm film onto other film for compying or onto paper strips for proofing.  These are popular now for use to assist rephotographing your 35mm film with a DSLR instead of scanning.  (Just remove the red filter beneath and you can sit it on a lightbox to hold your film flat)
